With the addition of an evil eye to protect its owner from negativity, cause that's how we roll around here 💪🏼
Inspired by occult symbolism, antique curiosities, and all things dark and mysterious, an everyday object with a touch of the otherworldly.
Whether you use it to light candles or incense, burn sage, tend to your altar, or simply carry it as a protective companion.
Maybe simply allow it to remind you that it's ok to communicate with those who have passed 🤍
For the mystics, the oddity collectors, the lovers of moody decor, the spiritually curious, and anyone who feels at home somewhere between the earthly and the supernatural.
This hand-painted, hand-tooled, handcrafted leather flame-keeper slips over a standard sized BIC lighter 🔥
For the history nerds ~
Invented in France in 1853, the planchette ~ French for "little plank" ~ was a pencil-holding heart or teardrop shaped device originally designed for automatic writing. Rather than spelling out messages, participants would lightly rest their fingertips on the planchette, believing spirits would write messages by guiding it across paper.
Later, when talking boards (now commonly known at Ouija boards) became popular in the late 1800s, the planchette evolved. The pencil was removed, and a small window was added so it could "point" to letters and numbers on the board, instead of writing.
Whether viewed as a spiritual tool, a French or Victorian curiosity, or an icon of gothic history, the planchette remains one of the most recognisable symbols of the supernatural.
